What are your research interests as they relate to northern Australia?

My research areas are broad, but this gives me tools to think outside the box.  I love watching wildlife interact in their environment, and to begin to understand habitat needs, thresholds, interactions, and thinking about how these will change under future development or climate scenarios.  My research is a hand-in-glove approach, working with a broad range of partners.

What do you love about working in northern Australia?

It has to be the opportunity to visit areas where most will never get in their lives.  The chance to discover new things, follow my curiosity, and to then be able to part this knowledge to my students.  Every day in the field, something new happens, and I continually have to remind myself about how lucky I am to be part of its protection. My most favourite place in northern Australia is Cape York – the wilderness, culture, beauty, and the stories.  I traveled there as a post larvae (about 8 years old), and have many wonderful memories; very inspired by the rivers and creeks. To now be working there is a dream come true .
