Investigating healthy country indicators

7 June 2019

Together, Traditional Owners and researchers have identified indicators that they can use to monitor and evaluate the health of country in Kakadu.

After monitoring these indicators before and after a management activity, and evaluating health of country, the team will reflect on the information to improve future natural resource management activities. This approach is being trialled at three pilot sites; one each in stone country (Kun-warddewardde), floodplain country (An-kabohkabo dja kurrula) and woodland country (Kukarnhkarndan).

CSIRO’s Dr Cathy Robinson and the Bininj/Mungguy Research Steering Committee are leading this work. The research will also contribute to Kakadu’s ongoing monitoring, evaluating and reporting efforts.

See this video where the team discuss some of the activities and monitoring approaches of the project.
